Menyigikwiye women saving group determined to shift to cooperative

On the 29th of March 2023, the National Women’s Council Executive Secretary Madam Kamanzi Jackline visited Menyigikwiye saving and credit group located in Huye District, Rusatira sector.

Menyigikwiye is composed of 20 women that were trained and supported by the National Women’s council in collaboration with MTN Rwanda. Members of this group say that the funds helped them to buy a mill machine and they use it to generate income.

The group also is pleased with the improvement of the current living conditions of their families after they got the funds.

In her message, Madam Kamanzi recognized and appreciated Menyigikwiye group's efforts in utilizing the support they have received from NWC in a proper way. She urged them to keep working hard and focus on savings and credit sharing is a wise approach and shift from credit and saving group to a cooperative.

With dedication, you can contribute to a brighter future for yourselves and the country” added Kamanzi. Cooperatives in Rwanda can offer many benefits, including access to larger funding sources, increased bargaining power, and the ability to participate in larger-scale economic activities
