On 22^nd March 2023, National Women’s Council joined IPAR RWANDA and Reseau des Femme Rwanda as part of the ongoing celebrations of International Women’s Day as they hosted a half-day workshop on project inception and discussions on unpaid care work.

Officiating the workshop, the National Women's council Executive Secretary Mrs Kamanzi Jackline highlighted that without care work, individuals, families, societies, and economies would not be able to survive and thrive.

This workshop that brought together stakeholders who agreed on the importance of care to sustainable development and its relevance for gender equality, covered topics on minimizing and redistributing unpaid care work for gender transformation. Participants agreed that Care work is fundamental for human well-being as well as essential for a vibrant, sustainable economy with a productive labor force.
